Governors
The Governing Body at St. Thomas More (STM) consists of:
- parent governors (who have children at the school)
- staff governors
- associate governors
- foundation governors
Foundation Governors are appointed by the Diocese of Westminster to preserve and develop the Catholic ethos of the school and represent the Bishop's education policy (e.g. worship and religious education).
The role of school governance is strategic in nature:
- as a Catholic school, to maintain its ethos ensuring the faith is core to all aspects of the curriculum and school life.
- to work with the leadership team to create a vision for the school, and the strategy to achieve that vision.
- to support and challenge the headteacher and leadership team in everything relating to the educational performance of the school.
- to monitor the financial performance of the school to ensure money is well spent.
All our governors give their time voluntarily and bring skills from a wide variety of backgrounds, for the benefit of the school and all the children at STM.
